Third grade is an interesting year. The third graders start their year out as a primary grade, but grow so much during the course of a year, that by the end, I really feel as though they are intermediate students.
The work load picks up dramatically. They are expected to start "reading to learn" instead of "learning to read." The math concepts are increasingly difficult. We start the year printing, but by January, we are writing everything in cursive. You will see tremedous growth during third grade.
And we have fun. Lots of fun. I promise!
