Dear Families,
Welcome to a new school year! I am so excited to have your child in my class! First grade is truly an amazing year with lots of exciting opportunities to learn and grow!
ELA:
Your child will experience a balance of literature and informational texts, designed to create opportunities for them to engage in a variety of topics, texts, and discussions, which will support language development and knowledge building! Your child will engage in read-alouds, shared readings, experimenting with written materials, and other literacy activities this year!
MATH:
In first grade, your child will be focusing on developing an understanding of addition, subtraction, and strategies for addition and subtraction within 20. Also, students will focus on developing an understanding of whole number relationships and place value!
RELIGION:
Students will have the chance to practice the sign of the cross daily through prayer. Students will be recognizing the importance of the Bible and we will be discussing stories/important figures from the Old Testament.
Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns!
