Announcements

Our focus this month will be learning about the First Christmas.  The children will come to understand what life was like 2,000 years ago when Jesus was born.  They will learn some new songs also.  "Away in a Manger", "There Was  a Little Baby" and "This Little Light of Mine" are just a few of the songs we will be singing in class.

Our Unit 4 HAPPILY EVER AFTER story is THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER.  The children will learn about the letters Gg and Hh and work with the color green.  They will come to understand "parts of a whole" and the meaning of top, middle and bottom.  We will focus more on using picture clues to help tell the story and we will continue to talk about the main characters and main ideas in a story.  The storybooks and activity pages will be sent home before Christmas break.

In math, the children will continue to practice counting numbers, as well as, creating and completing AB and ABC patterns.  We will learn a new song, "Counting 1 to 50 Forward and Backward".  The children are also learning how to "read" a calendar, something we practice each morning.  I will also be introducing the children to THE WATER CYCLE during our calendar and weather time this month.  

December promises to be a very exciting and faith-filled month.  There are many fun activities, stories, games and art projects planned!  The children bring their energy and love for learning to school each day and it is a true joy to see this and be their teacher this year.  May all of you have a blessed holiday season!!!  Thank you for sharing your children with us at St. Lawrence this year!!!
