Announcements

The saying goes, "March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb".  During the month of March we will be displaying the day's weather with a picture on our Weather Graph.  We will be able to see what "kind of weather" we experienced the most at the end of the month and if this saying is actually true. 

In Religion, the children will hear different stories throughout Lent that tell about some of the miracles Jesus performed.  We will also create some artwork relating to a few of these miracles.  The children will also be learning about Saint Patrick and we will paint a picture of Saint Joesph on his feast day, March 19th.

Our unit 7 story is THE CITY MOUSE AND THE COUNTRY MOUSE.  The children will work with the color brown, learn about the letters Oo, Pp and Qq and practice recognizing and tracing rectangles.  They will learn how to follow arrows in print and how to distinguish between long/short lines and objects.  The children will learn to make predictions and they will also continue to listen for words that, when spoken, are mentioned in either the same sequential order in a a different sequential order.

In math, the children will continue to practice reading graphs depcted with pictures.  They will also use different math manipulatives (bear counters, linking cubes., etc.) are they learn about "more than", "less than" and "equal to".  They will also place items in order from shortest to tallest.

There will be many weather stories and several art projects and activities to complete that go along with this theme during March.  Near the end of the month, we will focus on spring as we change seasons and hopefully welcome some warmer weather!

The children continue to enjoy being with their friends in school.  Whether they are singing and dancing to a "Danny-Go" song, listening to a story, working together in CENTERS or playing with puzzles and toys during Morning Arrival and Free Time, it is rewarding for Ms. Cohen and I to see them spend time together.  As always, thank you for your continued support at home and for sharing your children with us this year!!!
