HAPPY FALL!!!

The children have gotten off to a WONDERFUL start in preschool!  New friendships are being formed and lots of learning and fun are taking place.  The children are still settling into our preschool routine and learning the classroom expectations but they have "come so far" in only a few short weeks!

In religion, we will continue to focus on making the sign of the cross and learning the "Glory Be" and "Hail Mary" prayers.  They have been singing "I Know That God Loves Me" and will be introduced to the song "He's Got the Whole World in his Hands" this month.  We will also learn about St. Francis (his feast day is October 4th).

Our Unit 2 story will be THE THREE BEARS.  We will focus on the letters Cc and Dd, the color blue and tracing lines.  The children will come to understand the concepts over/under; big/large/medium/little/small and same/different.  They will also develop the skill of following oral directions and understanding key details in a story.  The activity pages and storybooks will be sent home at the end of the month.  

In math, the children will be sorting objects by size and color and they will also gain practice sequencing 3-4 events/pictures at a time.  We will also work with simple AB and ABC patterns this month.

Finally, we will learn about fire safety, nocturnal animals, pumpkins and leaves during October.  As we celebrate Halloween, the children will also learn about skeletons.  October promises to be a very fun and busy month in preschool.
