Hello! My name is Jessica Welter. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade this year! This is my 3rd year teaching 5th grade at St. Lawrence. I graduated from Brockport College in 2019 with a bachelors degree in Childhood Education (1st through 6th), Special Education, and English Literature. I completed my masters in Literacy (birth through 12th grade) in December 2022. My whole life I have known I wanted to help people but I wasn't sure what field until 2016 when I was in school for Social Work. I worked at Longridge Elementary with 2nd grade and after two days of working in the classroom, I changed my major to Childhood Education! Ever since then, every job I have had has been with kids. Its my passion! I have a lot of experience working with kids in many different ways. I worked at a before and afterschool care program in the Greece School District, substitute taught in Greece, worked at a summer camp, taught PreK at DoodleBugs for a year and a half, tutored at tutoring center, and most recently I taught at a summer school for first and second graders in a 12:1:4 classroom. On my free time, I like to spend time with friends and family. My family is growing to be pretty big- 2 parents, 3 sisters, 2 brother in laws (another will be added this November!), and a nephew and niece (with another on the way!!!) I have a cat named Lucy who I love very dearly. When I have the time, I like to draw and paint or do anything crafty. I am looking forward to getting to know all of my new students! I have so many fun activities planned for this school year! |
