Week of 4/10 - 4/13
In ELA this week, the children practiced how to read closely and write a paragraph, answering the prompt: How does the wheel and axle affect work? They completed the end of module assessment. We began an informational writing piece where the children are getting to choose a topic they know a lot about and want to write about. We also began literature circles again and the class is reading Shiloh.
In Math, we began Chapter 11. The children are learning about identifying fractions in a circle and relating that to the degree of the angles being made. We also spent some time this week reviewing before the Chapter 10 test.
In Science this week, we continued in Chapter 12. The children learned about the role of friction, force, gravity, and how energy can change form. Simple machines are also a part of this chapter, which the children already learned a lot about due to our learning in ELA. They learned that simples machines reduce the amount of effort needed to do work.
In Religion we began Chapter 11, which focuses on the sacraments.
In Health this week, the children learned about various communicable diseases, what causes them, and how we can keep ourselves healthy. The children also learned about various non communicable diseases, such as allergies, asthma, arthritis, cancer, etc.
